Review: Fanimation Enigma Ceiling Fans

Fanimation Enigma Ceiling Fans

Theoretically, a ceiling fan with one blade and no others for counterbalancing would be off balance, right? Not so says the engineers at Fanimation, and they proved it possible with the Enigma ceiling fan. The Fanimation Enigma has only one bold blade.

This ceiling fan is solid with few moving parts to potentially come loose over time. Balancing this fan at the factory may be a chore, but once it meets your doorstep, it’s good for many many years of maintenance free cooling.

The Fanimation Enigma surely makes a statement. It makes a statement that the room you place it in is worthy of the most unique ceiling fan on the planet. I personally believe that the inspiration for this ceiling fan came from a shark with its fin-like gray design, but I may be wrong. The Enigma was featured in the movie I, Robot with Will Smith. I, Robot was a futuristic thriller where robots try and take over the planet. Luckily, this ceiling fan is far more unique than that movie plot… At least you know that if you do purchase one of these ceiling fans, it will still be in style one-hundred years from now when we wage our first war against the robots.

As for lighting, the Fanimation Enigma can be lit with a 100-watt halogen light that tucks into the body of the fan. You would not fix some custom glass bowl to this fan. With one blade, there can be no room for balancing imperfections. It would also look awful. The Enigma comes in one color, metro gray and has a 60 inch blade sweep with an 18 degree blade pitch. There is no old school pull chain for the Enigma; it comes with a remote control or you can purchase a wall mounted control.

The only downside I can see to the Fanimation Enigma ceiling fan is that it may not fit in too well in historic or generic settings. In my opinion, the Enigma would only fit in well in environments that are just as edgy as the fan itself. The Fanimation Enigma is typically priced between $850 and $900. The following is CeilingFantasia.com’s review of this ceiling fan:
