Review: Hunter Low Profile III Ceiling Fans

Hunter Low Profile III

Sometimes, you just need a ceiling fan that will lay low for a while until things blow over. If that’s the case, the Hunter Low profile may be for you. With an incredibly narrow clearance of about eight inches, the Low Profile III is perfect for accompanying any demand for more vertical space in a room.

The Low-Profile III skips on lavish styling and instead offers straightforward, clean design and many customizable options. The four-blade model spans a modest 42 inches, making it even better for tight spaces, while the five-blade Low Profile III provides better circulation at 52 inches. The cylindrical housing mounts directly to the ceiling with no “hanging” parts. The blades converge in an open housing that is cleanly stylized with a simple button.

Housing finishes include white, brushed gold, and a deep, oily bronze color, so the low profile can fit in just about anywhere. Blades are available in white, dark walnut, and antique pewter and brass finishes to further adapt to the surrounding environment. With so many options, an attractive price tag (about $80 to $130, depending on the size) and a quiet motor, Hunter has delivered a great option for when you just need a ceiling fan.

Revew: Casablanca Marrakesh Ceiling Fans

Casablanca Marrakesh Ceiling Fans

Marrakesh is a perfect descriptor of this line of ceiling fans from Casablanca, as the Moroccan themed design inspires every detail of the series. The Marrakesh adds an elaborate antique flourish to any space and is sure to get noticed wherever it’s incorporated into the room’s design.

The most prominent feature of the Marrakesh is the three thin, rounded blades that span an impressive 60 inches. One look at the ceiling fan elicits visions of a classic airplane propeller, fitted to cool your room. The housing is incredibly ornate, with details like those of an antique wrought iron work.

The Marrakesh is available in three housing finishes, and the blade options are dictated by the housing finish. The deep, oil-rubbed bronze and lighter pewter finishes are accompanied by dark mahogany blades. If you choose the darker brushed cocoa finish, the fan blades are reversible walnut, with one side stained a darker shade to accompany any design. The housing also offers the option of a simple flourish at the tapered end or a dimmable halogen lamp. For a little extra money, the conical lamp is nicely incorporated into the design.

Review: Hunter 1912 Mission Ceiling Fans

Hunter

As part of Hunter’s 19th century, throwback designs, the 1912 Mission fan certainly elicits feelings of an antique look that compliments traditional design. The housing is a rich brushed bronze that blends nicely with most muted tones. The lamp in the center covers the motor encasing with a hexagonal shade that reminds one of a weathered gas-light lantern, enhancing the antique motif.

The five fan blades offer a sharp contemporary contrast to the traditional housing and lamp. The blades feature crisp corners and a tapered shape designed to improve airflow. Each blade is reversible, offering a deep-brown walnut finish on one side and a deep cherry finish on the other. The walnut finish blends in with the dark housing while the cherry offers a brighter design element. The blades span 38 to 52 inches and offer respectable circulation at top speed, powered by a quiet motor.

Hunter offers accessories, such as wall remote kits, wall switches, and even a matching vaulted ceiling mount for the 1912 Mission. The housing and lamp are sold as-is in no other finishes, so the fan is not for every room, but Hunter has provided a unique design element that works well in traditional spaces with darkly colored themes.

Review: Monte Carlo Airlift Ceiling Fans

Monte Carlo Airlift Ceiling Fan

The Airlift by Monte Carlo offers a unique perspective of the ceiling fan as a design element in any room. The opaque fan blades offer great circulation when the fan is in motion. When still, the blades hang vertically around the light fixture to create a chandelier-like effect sure to brighten any room.

The Airlift naturally raises and lowers the fan blades itself in a quick, quiet motion, employing the centripetal force of the spinning motion to raise the blades. When fully extended, the blades eventually reach a 44-inch span. When the fan is turned off, the eight blades again realign themselves vertically around the light. Using the fan is as easy as any other, simply turning it on or off with the remote kit or wall switch.

The Airlift features a stylish stainless steel housing that will compliment or update any room design with a touch of modernism. The blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and feature a frosted ABS finish that light up against the halogen lamp inside. The hanging blades may hang too low in some rooms, but at just over two feet from the ceiling, the Airlift shouldn’t interfere in most modern rooms.

Monte Carlo does not offer the Airlift in finishes other than stainless, but has equipped the fan with the option to fit dynamic uplight above the fan as well as some different remote and switch options. All of this is included with the fan. The MSRP for the airlift is around $700, making it a pricier, but unique addition to any space.

Review: Hunter Brookline Ceiling Fans

Hunter Brookline Ceiling Fans

The Brookline model of the Hunter brand shows off Hunter’s mastery of creating ceiling fans. This ceiling fan has simple decor while still exuding an elegant feel. The Brookline fits in any type of room without standing out. Even on its most powerful setting, the Brookline ceiling fan stays whisper silent. The only sound emanating from this ceiling fan is the wind keeping your room cool. The different housing and blade finishes, as well as the lifetime lack of wobbling, keep the Brookline from becoming a focal point of the room, yet does not detract from the room style.

The Brookline uses a Whisperwind motor, which reliably guarantees years of silent breezes under the Hunter Lifetime Warranty. The blades are 52 inches with a 14 degree pitch, and come in certain combinations of walnut, oak, cherry, along with housing finishes of nickel, brass, white, and pewter. Three separate ceiling mounts allow you to easily customize how high you place your ceiling fan, while the 120 watt bulb bowl provides ample light for a medium sized room. The Brookline is normally priced at around 250 dollars. The following is Ceiling Fantasia’s review of the Hunter Brookline Ceiling Fan.
